Presentation
The Inter-University Laboratory of Education and Communication Sciences (Laboratoire interuniversitaire des sciences de l'éducation et de la communication – Lisec) is composed of some sixty teacher-researchers and researchers based at the various university establishments in Alsace and Lorraine, namely the University of Strasbourg, the Université de Haute-Alsace (UHA) and the Université de Lorraine.
Lisec is organised administratively into 2 centres: Lisec-Alsace and Lisec-Lorraine. It stands out in the field of research in education sciences and information and communication sciences through the work it carries out on education and training spaces and facilities. More than sixty doctoral students carry out their work in the laboratory. It also has around twenty visiting researchers. It is structurally divided into four teams:
- Activity, work and professional identity
- Norms and values
- Learning, teaching and education practices
- Technologies and communication
The research carried out focuses on identifying the micro and macrosocial conditions likely to improve the quality of learning in the various initial and continuing education institutions. Identifying these conditions involves identifying and breaking down the different teaching, learning and training spaces, analysing how they interact and understanding the tools, strategies and values that are or could be implemented to increase their relevance and effectiveness.
The laboratory has many strengths:
- As it is located on both sides of the Vosges mountains, it can be a key interlocutor for the Grand Est region, and has the ability to dialogue and intervene in many professional sectors, particularly those requiring skills in education, vocational training and health education
- As a partner in projects that are both interregional and international, particularly through its inclusion in Eucor - The European Campus and the European Partnership for an Innovative Campus Unifying Regions (EPICUR), a precursor to European universities, it receives seed funding to initiate or collaborate on projects within cross-border networks
- As it is interdisciplinary, the laboratory has the resources to find within its ranks the complementary skills to respond to the various calls for projects that can serve to develop the unit's political project
- Its international visibility has been strengthened by the revamping and relaunch of the international journal Bildungsforschung, a ranked journal, attached to Lisec, in partnership with the Université de Haute-Alsace (UHA) and the University of Tübingen, which publishes in English, German and French, and the journal La Pensée d'Ailleurs, on the history and philosophy of education
Research topics
Activity, work and professional identity
The work in this field focuses on a variety of educational systems, with a common focus on the relationship between the analysis of activities, identities and skills that characterise human work.
Norms and values
This team studies forms of normativity in educational settings, or in other places devoted to symbolic transmission. The research aims to analyse the processes by which norms are produced, and the relationships constructed between norms and values in the fields of education and training.
Learning, teaching and education practices
This team analyses the relationships between learning and the practices of those involved in teaching, training and education. The aim is to understand how these actors perceive their roles and develop pedagogical practices and tools, and to evaluate the effects of the systems they implement.
Technology and communication
This team's work focuses on the various aspects concerning the expansion of media and technological tools in a knowledge and communication-based society (educational and cultural mediation; communication and training tools and activities; usage patterns and processes of appropriation of digital tools).
Major events and works
Every year, the teacher-researchers in the 4 teams publish around 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals and around ten scientific works.
Lisec participates in scientific promotion and dissemination through its involvement in the steering committees of various national and international scientific networks.
